Gold Hill Road (NE of Concord) remains closed for a $2.4M NCDOT bridge replacement over Dutch Buffalo Creek. Detour: St. Johns Rd → Mt. Olive Rd → Cline School Rd back to Gold Hill. Project expected to wrap by late 2026. (NCDOT)
Overnight lane closures on US 601 between Cold Springs and Flowes Store Road are possible 8 PM–6 AM as part of a $3.2M county resurfacing project covering nearly nine miles of roads. (NCDOT)
🏫 Schools
Cabarrus County Schools will cap enrollment at W.R. Odell Primary and Odell Elementary starting April 1. The schools are running at over 140% capacity — Odell Primary has 1,044 students in a building designed for 734. New grade 1–5 enrollees north of Hwy 73 will be redirected to Carl A. Furr Elementary, with transportation provided. The cap stays until a new northwest elementary opens in fall 2028. (WFAE) / (Independent Tribune)

Concord Police have charged three men in connection with the Feb. 1 quadruple shooting on Fairington Drive NW: Brandon Morris Jr. (19) faces two counts of first-degree murder; Devin Wardell Griffin (18) and William Cornell McDaniel (19) were also arrested.
